By placing the hub on the tip of the cone, technicians can effortlessly rotate it with one hand while applying heat from an oxyacetylene torch. The torch evenly raises the temperature of the inner bearing race by a few hundred degrees, causing it to expand and release from the hub due to its tight tolerance.
